—General Experience
I didn’t really know what this place was called until I took a picture of the sign. We just always call it “the walking trail out by the Visitor’s Center”. This is one of our go-to places as a family.
To say, “What is there to do at this place?” could easily be answered with “everything” and also “nothing”. Maybe this is why we like it. We walk, we talk, we laugh, we play frisbee, we wade in the water, we lay on the rocks, we swim, we enjoy ourselves!
This is a trail out by the dam and visitor’s center. It is at the State Park.
You either like the lake and the outdoors or you don’t. If you want a place you can just walk along the lake and enjoy the Ozarks, this is one of those places. The odds of you seeing the Scribners out here (Spring, Summer, and Fall) are pretty high!
—Things to Know
| Time Required: | 30 minutes is the minimum amount of time I would budget for this. This would be if you just want to walk your dog and get back in the car. If you are there with kids, the odds of them wanting to get in the water (at any time of the year) will be high. At very least you will want to get into a rock skipping contest! |
| What to Bring: | Your kids, your dog(s), your bike, Frisbee, a fishing pole, lake shoes (or something you can get wet to get in the water), snacks, a picnic… the sky is the limit!
THIS IS ALSO A GREAT PLACE TO GO FOR A SWIM! PUT ON YOUR SWIMSUITS AND GET IN THE LAKE! |
| Other Good things to know: | They have some fairly nice (for a wilderness area) toilets at the Trail Head. |
| Discounts Available: | None needed! It’s FREE |
